It's a short term addiction, not a long term like meth, pills, and heroin. But I guess anyone can get truly addicted to any substance at the same time.
No, u/Carnasty is right. The high is quick and short acting so the time needed to clean up is short in comparison with a log acting drug like morphine(all opiates metabolize into morphine in your system). They both suck to get addicted to and you are very much likely to ruin your life if you do, but pharmacologically, it's a short term addiction.
Why do crackheads literally smoke themselves to death then? They have to go through longer periods without it from time to time. Why did Robert Downey Jr keep going back to cocaine after getting clean over and over? It’s just hard to buy the idea that the addiction goes away quickly, and sounds a bit like a cope to me.
Cocaine? That’s like the quintessential severe addiction drug

That sounds like a massive cope to me. Crack heads will smoke themselves to death before they quit, and crack is cocaine.
But I’ve never done cocaine personally so I guess I can’t say first hand, just what I’ve seen of crackheads it’s pretty fucking bad!
