He must have been feeling pretty horrible and short of breath if he allowed someone to put him on ventilator. You can't convince any person who feels fine to go to the hospital much less get put on a breathing machine.

I think I had a run in with the virus right before it was a thing. I was getting waves of hot flashes and a racing heart where you'd try to breathe but couldn't breathe enough to calm it down.

I totally didn't a ventilator, btw. They just sent me home in an hour when I started feeling better. But when you're going through it, there's a whole lot of fear and uncertainty...and that's probably the worst thing about the severe symptoms.
