Seeing it in that light should be used as powerful motivation, perhaps knowing it's practically a live or die moment for our country is the biggest motivator. It's not about showing up because any one man asked us to, it's about showing up to protect the ideal that backs our beautiful country.
The airlines have too little passenger traffic at the moment; January is a very low time of the year so they are on a reduced schedule anyway, say compared to the peak in Summer and without the flu factor.
Cancellations could happen, but then the airline usually has to arrange other transportation on other airlines.
To cancel because of this is to just cut off their nose or other organ to spite their shareholders.
wednesday almost all Southwest flights from Orlando and Tampa to the DC area were sold out for the 6th and the remaining flights for the 5th were marked up.
Might still be Amtrak - but the best times from my paticular area are now sold out and the rest are marked up.

Which would mean several hundred of us all going to the same place at the exact same time (several thousand if considering trains from other locations probably comming into DC within +-15 minutes).

This can’t be accurate. There are exceptions to the rule such as only visiting for less than 24 hours. Simply say you are traveling to Maryland or Virginia and going to be in DC for less than 24 hours

Options can be to fly to Pittsburg PA (for example) and rent a car to get you closer to DC. But you'd want to leave like on Monday, so have a plane ticket. Tickets are available to these outlying cities.
