Do not do Baltimore. I live near Baltimore. It’s not good for planning to be in DC unless everything is sold out. Then, only stay in higher end establishments or you will deal with prostitution, drugs, and other crime. 100% serious.

Silver Spring is a MD option.

I can’t speak on all of VA, but Tyson’s, McClean, and Falls Church are definitely safe. The other parts O don’t have experience with.
