With this insane bill being introduced in NY, I'm getting really concerned about living here. Almost nobody in my life understands the level of danger we are in. I am keeping track of this bill, right now it's 'in committee.' It would still have to pass the senate and some other things before it became law.

However, if that law starts getting close to being passed, I legit think I need to just book it out of here. And I'm really not sure what to even do in that circumstance.

I have a brother in Oklahoma, so I guess I'd drive out that way. Maybe stay there for a little bit and try to find work. I wouldn't mind living in South Dakota but I have no ties to anything there. I don't know about finding a place to live. I am pretty clueless.

What would you guys even do in this situation? What would your thought process be? Any tips, advice, because this shit is absolutely insane.

I hate the heat, not that I would reject freedom for heat. But that's kind of why I think South Dakota, I imagine you still get some 4 seasons there. But where would you recommend down south?

Wyoming Idaho North Dakota are all cold buddy

Then of course Alaska

There's so many good places to live... just make a change, and start. You don't have to make it permanent... try it out and then move on if necessary. Missouri has tons of jobs, esp Kansas City area, and St Charles county, west of St. Louis... house building like crazy... painters always have work. But Oklahoma, Tennsessee, Missouri, Dakotas, Idaho...

I lived in New York. I remember the summers. Now I'm Texas. From California originally. So I'm used to mild, unexceptional weather. New York and Texas both have the big heat and big cold.

It's fine. Beats being in a reeducation camp.

Yes. Dictators always say what they're going to do and only a few believe them. Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot. You need to leave. The rest will figure itself out. This is why we cannot fail 1/6/21.

There are several unoccupied minimum security prisons hidden away in small rural areas of NY that the state is holding onto instead of selling.

These will be used as camps.

The state of New York has had sever “Shock camps” built.

Instead of relying on some unknown person on the internet pointing you to a specific location, do this: Make a list of criteria you desire for your new home. Then run all possible locations though those criteria. Make your final selection from those that meet all criteria.

BTW, this is the same technique that experts suggest when buying a house.

3
Women4Trump2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

I’d say stay near family. Oklahoma to start. Get out while you can before Cuomo makes a law that you can’t leave.

3
Tweedlethree 3 points ago +3 / -0

Go to your brother as soon as you can pack your car. Once that initial break has been achieved you will find yourself full of new ideas. The first step is the hardest one.

3
DeadParrot 3 points ago +4 / -1

Three years ago this California native moved her family to Oklahoma because she saw the writing on the wall. It was the BEST decision we ever made. RUN don't walk! You are fortunate that you have family in a red state and that should help tremendously. There is no shutdown in OK, so you should have no problem finding a job... it may not pay as well as in an overpriced placed like CA or NY, but you can actually afford a decent home on a modest salary/wage. Good luck!

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Can you give me your thoughts on living in Oklahoma? Just your general experience. One specific question is do you live in a small town/rural area or a bigger more populated area? I do love me some small towns, but I know they can be harder to find work..

2
DeadParrot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Personally, I love it. So much more open space, very little traffic, and lots of friendly people who love freedom. We owned a tiny condo in CA and now we own a good sized house with a large backyard in a nice suburb or Tulsa. Tulsa is pretty progressive, so I might stay away from there. There are plenty of small towns surrounding the bigger cities, so that might be a better place for you to start in order to secure work.

2
Boobzrule 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’m in the same boat. Looking to relocate to Texas / FLA or AZ

2
ValkyrieHoneybadger 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you can just drive to a red state and check places out until you find something suitable or that feels right to you.

Thats how I found my new home in a red state.

2
psybrnaut 2 points ago +2 / -0

I moved to Chicago at 18 from a small midwestern town with just my savings. Later lived in CA then back home to Midwest. You can live anywhere in this great land, friend. Don't be nervous about moving. Sell the stuff you don't need, load up your car and go. Rent a small apartment and look for work. Pick a red state and do some online networking to find patriot groups and make friends. It's not the Oregon Trail, it's just another town. God Bless America!

2
Blinduser 2 points ago +3 / -1

If you have family here come on...there is plenty of work and freedom to go around

3
Gesirisi [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's Oklahoma you're talking about? Question- when it comes to small towns/rural areas what do you think my odds of finding a decent lil painting job would be? Or would it be Oklahoma City or bust

2
PhoebeMcGuire 2 points ago +2 / -0

You need to do research on demographics of towns & cities of the state. Look for a town that is on the upswing economically- and has a population of at least 10,000 people. You know you do not like city living-so why move to a city-that does not make sense. kwim?
My personal observation about Oklahoma is that they love their Bible & their churches. You have not mentioned if you will be alright surrounded with folk that expect you to love the Bible as well-it is part of the culture. If you are accepted into their culture, they will be the best of friends and neighbors ever....remember-you are arriving as "the outsider" so mind your p's & q's....

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I am Christian, I wouldn't mind being surrounded by those kind of people. Demographics are important to me. Don't want to go to any ghetto kind of place. A nice small town would be nice, but I have to balance that with finding work I suppose. I am the kind of person that is very stuck in his ways and never likes big change, so this is just a lot to handle. I do love it where I love in NY. Commie psychopathic tyrants are ruining one of the greatest places on Earth.

2
PhoebeMcGuire 2 points ago +2 / -0

Seems to me that there is always work for a skilled painter that has a good work ethic. Cost of living in smaller communities tends to be very low, so starting out without a client base and being low on cash until you get steady work should not be a problem.
Nazarene.org has a very strong base in Oklahoma. Check it out. You will find good people there that will help you connect with others in the community & that will solve your employment needs.

Easy you can do it

I’m east of Tulsa a bit...in rural Oklahoma ....there is plenty to do all over city life sucks though

2
GeorgiaPatriot 2 points ago +3 / -1

Georgia is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, but I'll make this clear. The job market is great down here. Atlanta does have bad press at the moment but the city itself is doing very well and so are the people who live here. I drive a tow truck and I get around town and I see now hiring signs everywhere. The suburban areas to the north of Atlanta are booming. I hope this helps..Good evening to you

PA isnt far. the rural areas feel a lot better. theres some zombies here and there but u can conceal carry with a permit if thats ur thing.

1

I'm really close to PA. I can drive there in a half hour.

2
The_Wolf 2 points ago +3 / -1

The Nashville area is booming. Lots of construction, you might be able to get on with a crew. You could find builders and try to get work that way too. Living in the South can be done on the cheap until you get your feet under you.

Bailing out of NY is a good idea if it suits your lifestyle, but don't do it because of this bill alone.

The Sponsor of A146 has been trying to get it passed since 2015 with no luck, so it's probably going to fail again this year.

There are a lot of factors in picking a state: Immediately Family needs, Job/Career, Hobbies and so forth.

3
Gesirisi [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

The bill seems kind of centered on the issue with coronavirus. What was his justification for trying to pass it in prior years then?

2
800080 2 points ago +2 / -0

I didn't go into the bill history details.

I'll assume the sponsor is a moonbat.

The bill may seem more germane with the recent flu, but the previous NY legislature could have passed it last year if they wanted to. Most bills do not become law and sometimes legislators propose bills that have no chance of happening as a PR stunt.

As dumb as Governor Cuomo is, I can't see him signing this without signing the death warrant on his political life with the same signature. He's too greedy to do that.

SaltyKrakenBalls 2 points ago +2 / -0

In the same boat buddy. Seriously contemplating moving as well. Have a child's future to think about. We don't want her being afraid of people because of lockdown crap and having to wear a mask at the age of 2, no friends. Thinking about FL, TX, SD. (FYI we're conservative and voted Trump x2 ) .

2
SaltyKrakenBalls 2 points ago +2 / -0

FWIW my wife and I emailed our districts Senator and House Rep. They have no clue about this Bill. So maybe just send an email. You never know if it will open someones eyes. Their family lives here as well. Good luck!

This is dystopian. Imagine being born in a "medical facility" where no one is sick, and everyone is being held as potential "carriers" of a disease that "might" infect others.

2
LiskaEman 2 points ago +2 / -0

Do you need city or country? Do you have a regular job, own a business, and/or can you work from home?

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I am currently a painter who works FOR a small business. I do not own my own business. I can't really work from home, I mean I would be inexperienced at any work from home job. Highly highly prefer smaller town/rural area to city.

3
PhoebeMcGuire 3 points ago +3 / -0

Oklahoma first-bcuz family. Purchase a trailer your truck can handle & load it up with your stuff & head out. Give Okie a valid trial run of at least a year. Join local community organizations such as a church or Lodge & choose friends wisely.
You can do this.

2
LiskaEman 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ah yeah, thats doesnt work much! At least its a job you can do year round.

If you wanna stay kinda local, look at PA; despite Wolf it’s definitely red. You can drive back to NY (if not too far?) for jobs.

2
Shallers 2 points ago +2 / -0

I would prioritize being near family. I've moved across the country before alone, and it's incredibly hard. Having at least one person you know there makes it way easier, and if he has a family even better. We're social creatures, don't discount that.

I won't lie, the Breaking Bad movie kind of romanticized Alaska for me so I always thought it'd be a cool place to go, lol. But the weather is so extreme. Could you give me a quick synopsis of the weather up there and general life?

Don't run, fight!

There are always exceptions to the "mandatory" as written in the bill, just use them as the excuse not to take the shot. That's what I plan on doing if it comes to it.

2
surfrighter 2 points ago +3 / -1

Come to Texas! Lots of opportunity and mostly Red!

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

How easy do you think it'd be to find painting work down there?

2
surfrighter 2 points ago +2 / -0

Painting work easy to find if you have been painting for a while. Residential or commercial?

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Oh one other thing I just hate BIG CITIES I should've mentioned this. I prefer small towns but I know that can be harder to find work. Moving to a small town in a red state would be the biggest ideal.

1
surfrighter 1 point ago +1 / -0

Imagine if # of counties took the state as opposed to number of people that happened to be concentrated in the large cities and riddled with fraud.

1
Gesirisi [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've always done residential so I suppose that'd be my comfort zone.

2
deleted 2 points ago +2 / -0
2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

How's South Carolina? I have a sister in North Carolina so I'd consider it. Any smaller town areas that would be ideal? Any particular counties you might recommend that aren't going to be huge big cities but where I could still find work?

2
9moreyears 2 points ago +3 / -1

if you own property in NY, consider a straight-trade with someone who wants to live there. I think there's things like that online.

0
WhiteTrashJesus 0 points ago +1 / -1

I think there would be a problem finding someone who wants to move here

2
9moreyears 2 points ago +2 / -0

Find someone from China. They pay big-money too.

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lots of people were escaping the city to come upstate. But soon enough they'll probably just be getting the hell out of dodge.

2
SonsOfLibrty1765 2 points ago +2 / -0

Some midwest states are offering monetary incentive to get people to move out there. Often, they will pay moving costs, and in some cases give you a stipend to get settled.

2
Gesirisi [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Oh ya? Any idea which ones or where I might find more information? Could be worth looking into

1
ReticulatingSplines 1 point ago +2 / -1

Educate ALL neighbors within a large radius with a flyer about this bill, their rights, how to contact the representatives responsible (in the committee), link to one or more websites and/or social media pages with videos showing what happened to families in Canada and New Zealand and everywhere else this kind of law has been enforced, list of places to buy cheap yet reliable 2A supplies.

1
DeadParrot 1 point ago +1 / -0

One thing I haven't seen mentioned regarding this NY Assembly Bill A416... the fact that so many city/county/state/etc. entities are declaring RACISM a public health crisis. What happens when those deemed racist (ie. anyone who doesn't agree with the progressive agenda) are also possibly incarcerated in the interest of "public health"? Just a thought.

Doesn't your line of work help dictate where to go?

3
Gesirisi [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

Painter. Nice weather places are probably better. But I'm from NY and manage it. So I'd take my chance on a place with 4 seasons too. It depends. I have a hard time with big change, I'm kind of a stick to my habits kind of guy. Getting up and moving is terrifying to me in its own way. But staying here is starting to really scare me more

2
LonelyLadypedeSF_CA 2 points ago +2 / -0

You may be worried, but I envy you your possibilities and freedom. Maybe you could just send most of your stuff to a cheap central location and move around from place to place picking up odd jobs until you find what you like. Maybe you'll run across the love of your life and then you can send for your stuff and live happily ever after. It's your chance at real adventure!

1
Eksorbob 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is bat shit insane and therefore I have no doubt it will get passed. Life is full of challenges, face them head on and don't be afraid. Where abouts in Florida would you recommend? I am a painter (house painter). I kinda suck at doing stuff like this but worst cast scenario, I think I would try and find like an Ace Hardware store and just ask people coming in and out if they need an extra worker and hope for the best.

1
MostlyPieceful45 1 point ago +1 / -0

And don't forget to look at job openings online in papers and temporary work agency's can find you a job painting in less than a day or week. Don't be afraid to try a new job either cause they are available
