Different airline than you guys but pretty much the biggest one, all our flights are completely NEGATIVE going in to DC from Sunday on... I'm talking -15, -16, -12 and we never stopped selling middle seats 😂
I’m flight crew, so normally I’d just get there early and sign up for the jumpseat, but this is too important to gamble. Nice to see some full flights for a change. 2020 was brutal for us. Now that we’ve opened up the middle seats again it’s slowly coming back.
Yeppers. Started Dec 1st. They were starting to talk wage concessions which didn’t fly with our unions. Luckily that and furloughs were averted for the junior folks. I’ve been on a voluntary paid leave since May to help trim the fat.
Meanwhile, the regionals, but for the pilots, have been decimated. Lots of talent has left that will take years to replace, mechanics, dispatchers, support, ops, and management alike.
Our business model has changed significantly. It’s definitely been a game of adaptation. It was pure luck I chose the airline I did when I was first hired 19 years ago. I’ve seen many friends at other carriers come and go. I think there’s still consolidation that will need to happen. We had big international expansion plans before we got hit with the Max crisis and covid was the nail in the coffin.
Yeah it is. A good work around could be to fly to something like JFK or BOS first and then catch a flight to DCA. Those flights look pretty open still.
I always give a symbolic wave when I land on runway 6. I’m a big WW2 aircraft buff, and we lost a B-17 there in BDL a little over a year ago. That was a sad day. I still think about it everytime I fly in and out of there. RIP 909 and crew.
If there's that many patriots on the plane, I would say do it haha but they will add you to a "no fly" list and apparently ban you from flying in the future...
Pretty sure GRR is close to sold out too (into IAD) ! I know from my cousin that there's an epically huge caravan coming into town from MI and will be leaving soon.
Just means it’s oversold by 1 ticket. It’s a regular thing because there’s always a couple people that won’t show up for their flight, resulting in empty seats.

If I owned a major hotel chain, I'd offer rooms 50% off for anyone in town for the protest and otherwise try to cater to us.
It would be one of the best business decisions ever made. That chains hotels would be full for years to come.

That, or have you held for 24-48 hours ensuring that you miss all the activities. I doubt many lawyers will be on call for conservatives.
Maybe there needs to be an underground network for attorneys for patriots. (Truly underground- don’t advertise!)

For my company, GRR to DTW looks great. You just can't get from DTW to DCA or IAD at all. Caravan would be awesome though.
