I wear my steel toed Timberlands thirteen+ hours a day working on hard concrete and uneven surfaces (scaffolding, etc.) and they are the best I've ever owned (I'm on my second pair). But all boots fit everyone differently. It is so individual. Luckily, my company lets us expense a new pair every year. I've tried all sorts. The ones that don't fit i donate. I figure there are struggling Pedes out there that could save a few coins so they can work.

That’s awesome. Good boots/shoes are worth every penny

Well your feet are going to hate you for breaking them in but I would say for this experience anything with steel toes would be the best for self defense.

Jeez, my mind read that as "boobs" not "boots." I think I need to get laid. Lol

Boots by KEEN (yes, the sandal company!) are surprisingly comfortable and sturdy. We buy them for industrial workplace with a concrete floor and they are good on the feet all day. Zero break in required.

I've had Belleville 700 and 770, wearing Lowa Z8-N now. Both are good boots that I would recommend. Bellevilles have that more classic look and will break in to mold around the foot better. The Lowas are a bit chunkier but also lighter. Lowas have more padding around ankle and offer more support. Bellevilles are "sleeker" and more nimble.

I wear them 11+ hours a day, 5-6 days a week, on my feet for at least 10 hours continuously at work.

Take good walking runners & a pair of steel toe boots (military type) in a backpack in case some door/head kicking is required.
