Could Pence open both sets of electors? and wouldn’t then that force the Democrats to challenge them, in which case if the two houses disagree those electors are entered as well?

The math would favor Trump the same as if neither of the electors were entered

No one has been talking about this possibility

It seems the acts require that he open everything that arrives. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/3/15

Two tellers shall be previously appointed on the part of the Senate and two on the part of the House of Representatives, to whom shall be handed, as they are opened by the President of the Senate, all the certificates and papers purporting to be certificates of the electoral votes, which certificates and papers shall be opened, presented, and acted upon in the alphabetical order of the States, beginning with the letter A;

Thats how I read it too, pointed it out in a comment earlier today. All the certificates purporting to be certificates. Doesn't say anything about the governor or secretary of state.

In addition, the constitution doesnt mention the amount of votes a candidate needs to win, just a majority. So if its 306 to 312 or whatever, trump still wins.

Further in the act it details which sets of electors to choose given disagreements between the two houses, and that falls to those certificates that were signed off on officially in the given state.

That's in the act tho right? Not the constitution? They would have to fight it in court to have the act upheld as constitutional no?
