You should read about the espionage involved in making this happen in the early 90s or so. Our national security tech has always been backdoored by foreign interests who had our politicians blackmailed.
What's interesting is that music was shared openly, which might appear to be communistic, but in reality it just revealed recorded music's true free market value.
Music distributors are a scam. It costs them near nothing and rake in millions of dollars that should be going to artists.
With a truly free internet, recorded music is advertising that sells tickets to live performances...and this is what the distributors figured out after killed the music share movement.
