So, my wife got us a baby sitter and we saw a movie. She thought I’d enjoy the new Wonder Woman movie.
It was mediocre.
Had a variety of propaganda messages in it.
The most obvious was at the end of the movie when a child lets go of a balloon and it floats up into the sky a red five pointed star balloon = the rise of communism
The movie sucked so bad. I’m glad I used torrent.
I wish I could have that 2 1/2 hours back.
Ha ha yeah that red balloon was something. I also completely interpreted it that way. However I do want to point out that for almost all of her history WW has had a red star on her forehead tiara. So I also saw it as a reference to that.
In today's politics I cannot accept the second point, the historical design of the character, without acknowledging the likelihood of the first point. This shot was obviously intentional and wouldn't be filmed in a political vacuum.
This makes me wonder if William Moulton Marston designed her with the star to intentionally reference communism. She was designed at the start of the 40s, so I think the symbolism would have existed already. However she was also obviously draped in Americana. WMM was a hardcore feminist, so anything's possible.
