The comments in the thread are picture perfect examples of people not knowing wtf they are talking about. They keep quoting HuffPo and articles from CDC about "excess death" counts, conveniently ignoring the fact that the actual number of deaths in 2020 is roughly the same as it was in 2019. They don't even question it.
Every human death that has ever occurred was caused by covid-19; it's just that we hadn't discovered the virus yet and thus kept mistakenly identifying causes of death as things like "gunshot wounds", "asphyxiation", "decapitation", or "old age".
We now understand that all of these poor, misdiagnosed people actually died from the magical super-virus, and they would have survived if only they had known to wear face masks! (with the possible exception of the decapitated people; it's not yet clear whether or not the face still has to be attached to the body in order for a face mask to protect that body from covid)

I love science but I hate what they call science today. It's shills and politics, not science.
Science is a process for gathering information and correcting falsehoods. It's gotten us to the moon, it's created the microchip that allows global communication you which you are using to post this message. You use it every day in traveling to your job, at your job, and when you come home to rest your TV, HVAC, refrigerator and everything you use today is based on STEM.
The only problem is authoritarians using "science" to try and justify their claims, rather than actually justifying them scientifically. That and people are too dumb now to know the difference in the distinction I just said.

Science is not an institution, it's a set of steps for gathering information and drawing informed conclusions.
The fucked up part came about when we started believing it was an institution and were expected to just take the word of "experts" rather than applying the methods ourselves.

At the very least we can say cellphones (and low power microwave sources in general) cause very very minimal physical health issues, to the point they're extremely hard to identify in a repeatable manner. There's risk attached to everything, just cooking generates shitloads of particulates you breathe in, and really your cellphone probably damages you physically much more when you breathe in that new cellphone smell (industrial solvent residue vapors) when you crack the box open than when you use it.
You're forgetting blue light from cellphones and it disturbing sleep cycles.
