The key to understanding the communist, is to remember that their words are almost always the opposite of their actions.

China "Reformed" in the 90's and 00's, and opened up to the West, which led to the shitty free trade agreementsbthat we've been hustled by.. but did China really "Reform"? Did economic interdependence usher in political liberalization as promised?

Fuck no.

The most liberated the Chinese ever were, was in 1989 at Tianamen. Back then, it was acceptable to question the legitimatecy of the CCP. That was their Jan 6th and they lost. It's been completely unacceptable since and ability to constrain dissent grows stronger every year.

The "Reforms" while meant to sound positive to outsiders were just a policy of greater lockdowns and the world started working with them after the fact. Think about that: The world pushed the like button on central planning and suppression of the Chinese people. 🤔

Our governments are definitely trying to pretend China is different or better now, I just can’t decide if it’s due to corruption or fear of the fight (it’s obviously a combo of both, I mean which is the main reason) If Canada for example did the shit they do, would it just be overlooked by the world? Fuck no, because we are weak and unimportant comparatively.

Exactly... Great points.

It was all turn your head and make money. But Realpolitik created Frankensteins Monster.
