DuckDuckGo gives money to left wing organizations such as

2020 :

  • Algorithmic Justice League (racist, anti-science)
  • European Digital Rights (EDRi) (Feminist, anti-white, but against hate speech law. Maybe not so bad.)
  • UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry (feminist, anti-white, anti-science)
  • Gesellschaft fuer Freiheitsrechte (Feminist. Gets the government to do things for immigrants or to stop investigating immigrants.)
  • Restore The Fourth (Supports BLM narrative of racist police violence and George Floyd story.)
  • Tech Freedom (Defends Facebook's anti-competitive practices Internet giants. Mistakenly implies Trump banned Muslims to travel. )

Earlier:

Demand Progress (supported also by Soros), Freedom of the Press Foundation (focus on bringing down President Trump), and ACLU.

DuckDuckGo staff tells at Reddit that they encourage upstream sources to censor.

One of the groups they fund, Rise Up, has some red flags, but maybe we should be optimistic and try working with them and see how it goes. They believe in "systemic oppression embedded in the use and development of technology." Their core members have usual leftist signs. They want to fight "fascists". or the "kyriarchy" of "cissexism" "heterosexism to racism".

There are some problems with the TOR project, the members, feminism -- but there is also some good from it. Same with Electronic Frontier Foundation.

DuckDuckGo sent a message (Tweet?) about data being 'systemically biased', indicating a usual leftist sexism and racism. Sorry I didn't save a link to that.

DDG censors silently: no notice given when results are suppressed.

Mojeek has their own search engine.

I agree. In 2019 and 2020 I'm not seeing anything too objectionable. It would be nice to have more alternatives for sure, but I have no qualms about using them.

I've gone through orgs in 2020 and added to the list with objectionable organizations in 2020.

Thanks to the OP and the posters for the info and fact checking. Useful info.

I don't remember what I originally noticed about RiseUp. Maybe they are different than that RiseUp and I mistook them for being the same. Looking now, they do show some red flags. They believe in "systemic oppression embedded in the use and development of technology." Their core members have usual leftist signs. They want to fight "fascists". or the "kyriarchy" of "cissexism" "heterosexism to racism". Still, maybe we should be optimistic and try to work with them and see what happens. So, I am going to remove them from the list of reasons to not support DDG.

Generally, funding IT privacy projects is a good thing -- though there are some bad ones --

Signal, for example provided materials to BLM. See their blog

As far as DDGs censorship goes, some authoritarian types here would like some of that censoring.

It was on their main site around the time of the riots. Maybe you can find it in Wayback. IIRC, it was water, masks, maybe more things in that vein. They didn't name BLM, they wrote 'protesters' -- but BLM were the ones protesting at the time.

There you go

It’s been about two weeks since we announced an initiative to distribute versatile face coverings to help support everyone who is self-organizing for change in the streets. Since then, we’ve shipped over $25,000 worth of face coverings to organizers throughout the United States. Over $6,000 worth of merchandise was sent to Washington D.C. last week in time for the Juneteenth events in the heart of the city.

Yeah, it’s just not ready for prime time https://www.mojeek.com/search?q=Obese+black+people&fmt=images

1
Foletado [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

They outsource the image search, i think.

1
Awakened 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol. I guess that’s why the images are Chinese drawings.

Done with duck duck go. Also startpage.com is heavily heavily censored.

3
Neonentity 3 points ago +3 / -0

Start page gives supposedly anonymized Gulag results.

3
Unapologetic 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yandex is also NWO currated.

kenkra 2 points ago +2 / -0

startpage uses google results, it is written on their homepage

ddg founder : "weinberg". jewish fb: "zuckerberg", jewish google: "page, brin" jewish

jewish people hate white people, don't expect them to support maga stuff

1
Olds77 1 point ago +4 / -3

Trump disagrees with you and we have a ton of Jewish Trump supporters so fuck off. This place is about supporting Trump, not about being an ignorant bigot.

3
kenkra 3 points ago +3 / -0

you did not deny that jews hate white people

1
Alexbella 1 point ago +1 / -0

Stating facts about who controls or owns certain companies doesn't make you a bigot or "anti-semitic" (the usual label used to shut down free speech much like calling someone a racist).

1
Olds77 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you insist, however stating things like "jewish people hate white people, don't expect them to support maga stuff" then yeah, you're a bigot. Which is exactly what I was replying to. Trump has a Jewish daughter and grand kids and you should go fuck off to another forum if you think his post with blanket statements about Jews is acceptable.

1
Alexbella 1 point ago +1 / -0

So what if Trump has a Jewish daughter? Jared is absolutely not on board the America first agenda. Ivanka and Jared should never have been anywhere near the Whitehouse as advisers to Trump. They are both limousine liberals and Jared's loyalties belong to Netanyahu.

Yup it became more evident right after Nov 3rd that they are headed the same way.

2
instant_covfefe 2 points ago +2 / -0

It was my default search but now DuckDuckGone (like Mojeek)

2
educatedandfree 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thank you for this; just switched default browser.

But GODDAMMIT. I'm trying to be positive and hopeful, but the fraud and propaganda is so pervasive I don't see any other way out of this than Box 4.

I am preparing my body, boys.

Ummm - this post should be deported for self-promotion.

They are trying to discredit DDG and you are falling for it.

1
Foletado [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I am in no way affiliated with a DDG alternative. I didn't even suggest an alternative in the initial version. -- only after someone asked.

If we become much of their user base, we can at least let them know so that they appreciate that. They are small presently. So, it wouldn't take much to be a large portion of their users.

1
RoosterHeadBad 1 point ago +1 / -0

Just tried Mojeek. The images portion completely is a failure. Web search for “American Inventors” gave me links to African American Inventors as the first 5 hits.

1
Foletado [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

They outsource the image search. You can configure which third party to use in the settings.

1
NordicIsrael 1 point ago +1 / -0

They're being extorted by the big tech mafia.

Just migrated all my browser to use mojeek. Get woke go broke.
