Other than there being alternative slates of electors (not certified by governors in some cases), can someone explain to me what these objections will accomplish? In the last 20 years when Dems object, has an electoral slate ever been thrown out?

One path:

  1. Dump those electors from states where they were the result of a fraudulent or fatally flawed election process.
  2. Once dumped, neither Trump nor Biden has 270, but Trump would have more.
  3. Without a majority, the selection of President goes to the US House, 1 vote per state. Republicans control there, 28 delegations. (Pence would be elected VP by the Senators and the Republicans control there by a slim margin.)

In the last 20 years when Dems object, has an electoral slate ever been thrown out?

Not that I can recall, but I can't recall this much obvious fraud either, so new situation. The Electors have been challenged before in US history, more than once. The rules changed after each time. Maybe we're overdue.

how you even going to accomplish step 1 with dems in control of house and romneys in the senate?

No idea how step 1 will happen, but it's one of the goals and means to Stop the Steal.

Guessing: Try and corner people to have to publicly support a legal process or support a criminal act. It was never going to be easy.

If Trump has done nothing else in the last 5 years, it has been to do the 'impossible'.
