I'm hoping at least one Democrat will step up and support this new plan. I'm sure there are at least a handful whose consciences are bothering them as they remain silent. Too bad Tulsi didn't run for re-election. She'd have won, and I think she'd have been the most likely to be willing to step up and be the first Democrat to come out in support of the plan.

I wouldn't completely put it past Bernie to come out in support. It seems like a long shot, but he was just speaking in the Senate a couple of days ago, putting up giant posterboards of Trump's tweets. And Bernie was certainly a victim of DNC election fraud in the 2016 primaries. Opening the floodgates to make it easier for some Democrats to join this effort would be a hell of a way to get revenge on the guilty.

Bernie is bought and paid for, zero chance he will do anything besides what he is told to do.

"Conscience"... No, extremely high selection bias in the type of person that wants to be in politics

Smart, non-corrupt people can make more money in other lines of work without the stress. Politicians select into that trade because they are corrupt and this is the highest pay day for them. No stress if you're a psychopath and an attention whore

Bonus: They get to decide their own paychecks. Which is inherently the most bullshit thing our government allows.

This. Politicians are, on average, the filth of the earth. Precisely why government must always be kept minimal.

Actually, a while back politicians made the Legislature excempt from insider traiding laws. I'm not positive, but I think it is still in place. Little help for anyone in the know?

Just that means getting in for even one term is HIGHLY lucrative.

It is such a damn shame that you're correct, and that we feel this way. It shouldn't be this way. We have to change this somehow. I'm sick of hearing the founders rolling in their graves

You would think there are at least some in vulnerable areas that could lose an election over this.

You would think. Though Bernie's recent tweet indicates he's not a possibility to step forward.

Given his recent tweet, I'd say there's no chance at this point that he'd actually do it. But the day before he stood on the Senate floor putting up posterboards of Trump's tweets, trying to persuade the Senate to do what Trump was asking, most people would have said there was no way he'd do that.

Bernie will side with anyone who says "hey let's give people free stuff" regardless of who says it or why. He bent over for Hillary in 2016 and for Biden in 2020, he's not gonna suddenly fight against election fraud now. He's not on our side anyway he hates Trump
