Gifts from people, cheap specials and other BS. Piled up over the years. Once I saw it all out in front of me it made me pretty ill. Plus, my bandwidth is probably loving life now.
have never understood why anyone would want an Alexa or Google home in their house.... it is idiotic to willingly have a 24/7 spy in your home. wtf is wrong with people?? but, social media has clearly demonstrated just how ignorant a majority of the public is.
It honestly started out as convenience... didn't think much about it. Then I started realizing how much my information is worth, and then seeing that Amazon wants this Covid shit to continue (while donating to Inslee, fuck WA state) and kill our small biz. Eff em. Done. So, my apologies for being an idiot. I'm in IT and have always loved tech, now realizing that bad people are in control of our convenience.
been in IT for 24+ years. freaks people out that I do not use social media or any of these types of devices, but i am the "computer guy". in my line of work, have had to help people resolve problems that this type of shit has caused. only people that crave drama like to get all wrapped up in this kind of stuff. no thanks.

buddy bought a Smart TV with a webcam on it. Explained to him that the TV would always be recording, but he refused to believe it. One day, we were getting ready to watch a game at his house, and his internet went down. Since the internet was down, the TV refused to work- would only show "no internet" error.
Hahahaha... That's sad. There's no reason for a small feature to keep the whole system from operating unless it was integral. Hope your friend woke up that day.
he returned the TV the next day, and got a "dumb" LED.... LOL. you would think it would still just work as a TV without internet, but not that model. crazy the way things are going. even though Siri is turned off on our phones, we know the bitch is listening.
