The 1986 Amnesty had nothing to do with changing voting in CA. It wasn't automatich citizenship, people still had to apply and go through the process, not everyone who qualified did apply; and the result at the time was about a 50/50 Dem/Rep split; and like most all populations of voters (except blackmailed SCOTUS justices) they tend to become more Republican as they get older/wiser with age/life.
The Dems started wholesale cheating pulling in nationa/international resources in 1994 to fight CA Prop 187 which would have destroyed the Dems as a national party, and made them back into only a corrupt Big City Political Machine. Prop 187 passed, but Leftie judge tossed it. Since 1994, the Dems have continued to cheat from dogcatcher on up; what the country saw this time or even in 2018 with the House Steal via CA House Seats in congress; is what's been going on in CA for 26 years.
All the voter data is available for anyone to look at if they want to. Believe it or not, so of us lifelong republicans were involved with campaigns in CA in that election cycle too, and had the data firsthand, before during and after too.
Also, right this second, we're using parts of that 1986 Amensty Law to BUILD THAT WALL. So some can callit the amnesty law, or can call it the first law with real authorizations to Build That Wall. Some of us have been REAL pro-wall for over 40 years, an some of our families have been pro-wall for generations, including many freedom loving Mexican-Americans that know firsthand that the corruption, crime, commies to the South need to be stopped and cleaned out. Defense first, offense second. Remember the Alamo!
The issue is also the prospect of allowing family members easier access to come into the US due to the amnesty. You can’t really factor in the number of potential exponential illegal and legal relocation that took place due to to the amnesty. It’s not just those given that opportunity that it affects.
