If Warner really was the bomber then I’d bet the practice site is the quarry in Antioch which is a 5 minute drive from Warner’s house and has frequent blasts which feel different from typical blasts (but I’ve always chalked it up to the wave moving through the ground instead of the air). I haven’t noticed any in the last week or so... guess if they stop permanently then I’ll know.

Also this is splitting hairs but depending on how and what you want to consider there have been “thermobaric” IEDs and some definitions could be built fairly easily. Whether we are talking TATP and a propane tank, NE round for a SMAW, multi-phase explosives, etc. makes a big difference here. They’d probably never really release that info anyways but the details would be useful for speculation.

Pondering this somewhat.... if the blast had two stages then that may explain what people think is an air strike/directed energy weapon. I initially dismissed it as shrapnel created a vapor trail but potentially that is remnants of the dispersal stage.

If you watch the footage frame by frame there is an initial blast followed by a line moving up and away in a diagonal manner. Then comes a second explosion which is much larger and constitutes “the main explosion”. Potential that could be an initial explosion to disperse the fuel followed by the larger blast when fuel is ignited.

Sadly nearly every explosion I’ve witnessed was in fairly open environments so I’m not sure how to compare this one (2nd ave channelizes the explosion which causes different behavior vs one which is free to move in every direction).

If the blast was FAE or something similar then the blast was also probably directionally oriented as damage seems to be focused on the side of the street with AT&T which means the fuel had to be focused towards the left hand side of the RV (one way street with the target being drivers side).
