Wait that’s what happened on Christmas? Or this was a separate event afterwards?

That was when Assange was going to release the next slate of emails. Internet down. Back up. Emails released with times stamps 101 101 (Room 101, where Winston was tortured until he came around to the party line). First Wikileaks release where metadata had been modified to send clear signal there was tampering. Emails in the drop missing. Reports flood the interwebs of Wikileaks ppl individually arrested in targeted strikes in multiple locations. This was 2016. Memory holed, quickly.

I followed Lizard Squad from the beginning, and they were notorious for DDoS attacks, but never saw anything about data breach from them. Also the public DDoS attacks we know from LizardSquad around Christmas was in 2014 and they took down Playstation Network, Xbox Live, and then I believe they also targeted some of the TOR network.

With that being said... I do remember vividly out Assange was said to have disappeared, the deadmans switch was supposed to trigger, and then major portions of the Internet went down temporarily. This was in October 2016 and was due to the DDoS attack against DynDNS, which took down DNS services for many services throughout NA and EU. I remember AWS, Reddit, Twitter, Spotify, Slack, Paypal, Etsy, Github, and many more were affected.
