I'll admit I've forgotten a lot of the Assange saga. Was he also wanted in the UK? Or was the UK acting on behalf of the US? Wondering because I'm not sure if it'd be better in the long run, and also wondering why TF GEOTUS hasn't pardoned him yet.
Assange was initially wanted in Sweden for two bogus rape cases. He was in England at the time an arrest warrant was issued for him to be extradited to Sweden. Whilst on bail in the UK and fearing he would be then extradited on to the US from Sweden, he escaped to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London where he was granted political asylum. During his time in the Embassy, Sweden dropped their rape cases but he remained there because there was now an arrest warrant in the UK for his offence of skipping bail. Eventually his political asylum in Ecuador was revoked and an agreement was made between the UK and Ecuador that the British police could enter the embassy and arrest him. When they did this, the US then applied for him to be extradited to the US. So recently he's been held in the UK for the initial charge of skipping bail (which is a tiny charge, and should not have kept him in prison for so long, especially in solitary confinement at a max security prison).
Trump is probably waiting for this to play out before he pardons him hoping that he can fight it the correct way. A pardon is really the last resort, but I believe it would be given if he had due to be extradited.
Basically a lot of European governments were acting on behalf of the US at the behest of Kerry, Biden and Obama. Even getting him out of the Ecuadorian embassy took a soft regime change coupled with a campaign of psychological torture and isolation. For instance they took away his razor and his access to haircuts prior to extracting him. So when they finally hauled him off he looked like a shaggy bearded crazy old man.
POTUS hasn't pardoned him because honestly he is surrounded by people who give him really terrible advice for really nefarious reasons. I always saw Snowden and Assange as the litmus test for swamp creature/ or not. When there was some great momentum for the Snowden pardon earlier this year Barr was in POTUS' ear talking him out of it. I don't know what he has planned but I hope he's listening to the right people.
Ah, thanks! Yeah, I saw/heard something about the razor denial. WTF kind of animals do that, except when someone is a proven threat to themselves or others?
That was the excuse they used. But there was literally no sign of it. And if there was it was only because they were trying to induce it in him. The whole things so fucked up.

I believe that's the jist of it.
Trump should've pardoned him on day one.
Leaving Assange safely in the hands of the City of London who wanted him arrested in the first place?
Thank you!
He was only being held because of the US extradition request. That has now been denied so he is now effectively a free man.
Very sad if the shit UK govt puts him on the brexit plan. Ie, five years to get a simple fucking thing done that's been already decided.
Thanks!
