I grew up “Catholic”, but to be honest I never bought into it. Mostly as a kid the last thing I wanted to do was spend 5 days in school and then another day at Sunday school. So I distanced myself for a long time from Faith in general. About as distanced as I was from politics. Politicians are less trustworthy than used car salesman, at least you know the motive for the salesman. I also voted third party in 2016 being sick of the 2 party system. I felt the same way about the church with their Priest situations. My views haven’t changed much since say 10 years ago. The biggest change was that I was indifferent on abortion until we had our first kid in 2018. When I saw the ultrasound and heartbeat for the first time at 9 weeks I knew that was my child immediately. Nothing can change that opinion. Then later that year I began to pay attention to politics after the blatant deception from the Kavanaugh BS. I found a lot of parallels with the people standing up for Kavanaugh/Trump as with the teachings from Christianity. In 2019 I bought my first Bible (King James version).

Skipping the rest of the journey to get to the point:

The efforts these people have taken to actively undermine the lessons of the Bible has lead me to exactly what they are trying to destroy.

I am just starting to build on my surface level knowledge from my childhood, but I’m determined to learn more.

I just wanted to share with this community of shit posters, memers, truthers, pedes, and most importantly Patriots that I feel there is much more going on than what we see.

They should offer both. I fell behind when only taught phonics and had to go to a private learning center where I was taught recognition. I then blew way ahead of those in public school.

You should try to dig up EmptyCities by Moody Bible Institute. Tracks the rise and fall of some previous civilisations-we are so close to the edge.

25
Isolated_Patriot 25 points ago +25 / -0

We are very much at the edge. Just reading the Bible, we are at the same point God destroyed the city of His own people, many times over. Personally just waiting for the wrath to start and praying for my family in the midst of it. Given a choice I take the wrath of God over pacification and returning to "normal" with all of these people still in power.

Hop in a time machine, travel back to 2001, grab the most loyal democrat you can find, and take them to today. 'Xir', 'GenderQueer', 'Pansexual', 'Climate Equity', etc, would all be completely 100% foreign to them. They would think it was a practical joke.

So we will end up a word salad very soon. Thanks to these Fucktarded Democrats.

3
LessAndLessIronic 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not if we have lots of fun with it and turn that into a form of hate speech.

If we want to change their mind about something, all we have to do is agree with them.

66
Weero 66 points ago +66 / -0

Even the word 'Man' has a non-gendered origin. 'Man' as it is used in mankind stems from old english, where 'man' simply meant human. In fact, to differentiate between male and female 'man', the prefixes 'wer-' and 'wyf-' were used, werman and wyfman. Of course, 'men' is the plural of that word.

It's how we got the word 'werewolf', literally meaning 'manwolf', as in 'male human that is a wolf'.

Wijf/wyf is also old Dutch for woman, in German it's 'das Weib', so it must be a remnant of an older system, what was it again? Indo-European?

15
Isolated_Patriot 15 points ago +15 / -0

As far as I am aware, "wyf" is where the word "Wife" comes from in modern English. It literally just means woman.

My recollection could be off though, my obsession with etymology has developed some dust and cobwebs.

3
LessAndLessIronic 3 points ago +3 / -0

Is the indo from Indian? Do the languages in modern India share a common ancestor with Europe's languages (honest question, not a dig at Indian English).

3
ViduusMAGA 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes but it's really from an area a litle north west. The whole Ayran concept arose out of the area that became Persia/Iran. It's the root of a lot of European languages and (pagan) religious concepts. Some even think the origin of storm gods like Thor etc came from early gods in that region.

The scythians were a nomadic horse-based people that bridged the area between Europe and Iran a few thousand years ago. They spread a lot of the concepts westward. The caucus mountains were a natural barrier and they moved west/north/east of them. (simplified a lot of stuff but you should dive in... it's facinating)

3
Sl0re10 3 points ago +3 / -0

Quick answer: yes. The Wikipedia entry for Indo-European languages seems to be ok (not politically biased)... if you want to know more.

Postmodernism doesn’t care about your  ´grand narrative’ of empirical facts. Hurr durr says the college grad. This is how these people think they can cut off their genitals and declare a different gender. They are unhinged and want to drag the rest of us into their madness spiral.

8
LessAndLessIronic 8 points ago +8 / -0

Plenty of us graduated from college without absorbing the propaganda.

It's true that it's rampant there. It seems to affect people in two ways: either it brain washes them or it drives them further away from it.

College is of course mostly a huge scam these days, but some careers just don't happen without that paper.

6
D0NNIE_DARK0 6 points ago +6 / -0

College at this point exists to mentally and emotionally retard young adult development and saddle them with unbelievable debt. If it can corrupt them morally with various vices, it’s a side benefit.

That is one of the most evil things done that is greatly overlooked by many Christians. The rainbow is literally God's promise to the world that He would never flood it again. They evil left took this beautiful symbol and corrupted it to be analogous with homosexuality and much worse.

Now days in culture, most people can't see a rainbow without immediately thinking LGBTxyz, or see a person with rainbow colored clothing or designs and think they are homosexual too.

2

1

Christianity has historically been the aggressor. I think this push to "turn the other cheek" as default mode is a 20th century method to accept communism.

The word "amen" is literally Latin meaning "so be it". IT DOES NOT MEAN A-MALE. It just shows you how ignorant and incompetent these people actually are.

Also, good for you for starting your spiritual journey!! The Bible is the greatest, most hopeful, amazing book you will ever read.

11
CuckerCarlson 11 points ago +11 / -0

but it has "men" in it.... it's confusing to the left!!!

4
MerchantMan99 4 points ago +5 / -1

I turned away from atheism at the ripe age of 41, and my look on life has improved, but the Bible is the most confusing, impossible to read book I've ever tried to read. I can't get through 3 paragraphs without being confused out of my mind. Feels like I'm reading an ancient tongue. Do you have a substitute?

5
PresidentTrumpsCat 5 points ago +5 / -0

There is no better substitute to the word of God! :) There just isn't, so I've always found it's better to persist in studying.

It can be confusing if you don't know how to read it (or where to start)! I use a King James Version Bible. Which is the first English version, thus the closest to the original texts. Is old English confusing when you first start? Yes. But it's sooo worth it once you get used to the terms.

I'd suggest a lil research on some study guides (Joyce Meyer has some) and reading through the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) first. These are the easiest books to read (as they are linear and all tell the story of the life of Jesus...just from four different viewpoints). Psalms and Proverbs is also fairly simple (Proverbs was especially made for children to understand). Work outward from there (that's at least, as a child, how I was taught).

The Bible is a study that will NEVER be finished! Turn to God and ask him through prayer where to start. If I know anything at all about Him, he won't disappoint. ;)

A good book to help build your foundation is Basic Christianity by Wayne Grudem (who supports Trump btw). Short and easy to understand.

The root of our battle is a Spiritual one. This plane is just the battleground.

I'm thrilled to have you with us Pede. Read the Gospels and open your heart and then put on the Armor of God for the time is now.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord(A) and in his mighty power.(B) 11 Put on the full armor of God,(C) so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,(D) but against the rulers, against the authorities,(E) against the powers(F) of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.(G) 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,(H) so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,(I) with the breastplate of righteousness in place,(J) 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.(K) 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,(L) with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.(M) 17 Take the helmet of salvation(N) and the sword of the Spirit,(O) which is the word of God.(P)

18 And pray in the Spirit(Q) on all occasions(R) with all kinds of prayers and requests.(S) With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying(T) for all the Lord’s people.

The word Amen had nothing to do with genderism. It is a word that early Christians used as a sign of agreement since not all Christians understood each others’ languages. We are truly governed by idiots.

4
lurker247 4 points ago +4 / -0

It actually goes back older than Christians. It comes from Egypt. The origins are Amun or Amun Ra. https://www.ancient-egypt-online.com/amun.html

But for the sake of simplicity, we can go with the Christianized Latin version.

3
JustInTime2_ 3 points ago +3 / -0

Look into Kent Hovind for scientific creation applogetics which supports biblical narrative and shows the earth cant be millions of years old(seminar series on yt). And if you want the evidence for the resurrection there is Gary Habermas who proves with a high degree of certainty in his work based on the evidence archeological, biblical and non biblical historical facts which are accepted by critics which supports the historical truth of the resurrection. He also explains why theism is more rational than materialism given the failure for theories such as evolution to account for abiogenesis which means lofe from non living matter which is impossible without supernatural intervention as well. Science points to the validity of the biblical narrative its a total hoax that science contradicts the Bible and creation.

Read New Age Bible Versions by Riplinger it is the best book ive found that explains why the King James is reliable and why after the 1880s they started to make a new version every year to slowly change Gods word.

Thank God for Kent Hovind! He came to my school when I was just a little one. It solidified my beliefs in Genesis' Creation Story, and I've never doubted since then.

There's also a lot of great information at Answers in Genesis

When it comes to more conventional apologetics, I'm a big fan of David Wood who focuses mostly on Islam.

Hes legendary. Thanks for the David Wood tip.

Darwin was a Catholic priest that recanted his theory because of the way it was being used to remove God from science.

True science. Testing theories and basing conclusions on facts is in no way contradictory to any religion. They are apples and oranges. Real science describes the physical world and how it works. Religion describes faith and the supernatural and how that works.

Denying that the supernatural exists is the blind path the current religion of "science" has gone.

They have created their own creation myth (Evolution) have their own priests (experts/"scientist") that cannot be questioned on a range of dogma (Global Warming, LGBTQ, abortion . . . )

And these religious beliefs are shoved down every child's throat using our tax dollars.

SmartGuy 5 points ago +6 / -1

Yup takes more faith to believe nothing created everything atleast an infinite being creating something from nothing is actually consistent with physical laws

BunkerHill 2 points ago +3 / -1

Read the book "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist". Fact based, scientific, philosophical, historical evidence for the truth of Christianity, or better stated the truth of God, the Bible, Christ, and His death and literal physical resurrection. Has a great forward written by Rush Limbaugh's brother.

What? Darwin was raised in the Church of England. Where are you getting that he was clergy of any Church?

This is what did it for me last night. I’ve stumbled on Lee Strobel, Kim Clement, and others over the past year but I started Hovind’s Age of the Earth last night. He even mentioned vaccines and the Georgia Guidestones which really hit home, because they are all things that have peaked the interest over the past few years. Then when he made biblical references around those things it had my mind racing last night going to bed. The statistics of crime post 1963 made the biggest impact to me. It was almost like a switch was flipped. Then when I woke up to Congress’ shenanigans and I knew this was way more than just the typical greed/control corruption I’ve known.

Thank you.

I highly recommend a copy of the MacArthur study Bible in your preferred translation (I recommend NAS or ESV), or the Reformation Heritage study Bible (KJV only). The official ESV Study Bible, as well as the Reformation Study Bible from R.C. Sproul, are wonderful as well.

There’s also a lot of information on the problems with evolution & how science supports the Bible’s account of creation in Genesis at answersingenesis.org, creation.com, & icr.org.

The articles they have helped restore my confidence that what the Bible says about our origins is true.

Revival doesn't happen when everyone is comfortable.

I've been praying for revival for years and I hope your story is the same as millions of others brother.

God is in control. He is Omniscient (knows everything) Omnipotent (Can do anything) and Omnipresent (everywhere at all times)

The best part is that God that spoke the universe into existence loves us and works all things to the good of those that love Him.

Tips for learning more about what Christianity is really all about:

  • Use whatever version you feel most comfortable and speaks to you best. Having multiple translations can also help shed more light on what the original text is saying. That said, KJV is a solid choice, as are NIV and NASB.
  • Proverbs, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts are good starting points. Proverbs is the most practical book in the entire Bible, while the Gospels (and Acts, as that's basically Luke Part 2) give you four accounts of Jesus' ministry. Acts is basically the epilogue for the Gospels
  • Try to set aside a time each day (like breakfast if possible) so you can read a chapter or two - this is a hard habit to form, but worth it once you do.
  • Old Testament is solid background knowledge for the New Testament, as you'll start seeing connections and callbacks all throughout the New Testament once you start building the Old Testament knowledge
  • https://www.blueletterbible.org/ is a really good tool to use to pick apart and trace scripture back to the root language - and follow the rabbit trails as that's how you learn much quickly =)
  • Don't be afraid to challenge all concepts and dogma about what you think you know about the Bible - God gave you a brain to think with for a reason, don't let that gift go unused as working through your doubts is part of what builds spiritual strength
  • If you're getting stuck, take it to your preacher and have them work through it with you - they'll probably be excited that someone is diving deep into it =)

Hopefully that helps, and hopefully you learn much =)

It’s odd, but I have solidified my belief in Christ the more I’ve been challenged and challenged myself on why I believe. The truth will always lead back to Christ.

Agreed. This happened to me when I was a teenager and spent about a year arguing Christianity & Evolution vs Creationism with some friends. All of the research I had to do to refute their points only ended up strengthening my belief.

Please look into a traditional Catholic parish run by the FSSP, ICK, or SSPX. They adhere to actual Church teachings.

National Catholic Church (Polish) have a valid mass also. They can be found in Great Lake States and mainly in Rust Belt areas. But a few are not. Absolutely wild story about how they can still have validly consecrated priests and not be affiliated with Rome or the Orthodox Church.

Look up The Dutch Touch. In short, Rome set some priests into the backwaters of Poland to bring them up to modern times in the 16th century. There was a big brouhaha from the Poles and they wanted to appeal their case to the Vatican, who were too busy to listen. The Dutch Bishops intervened and allowed the poor rural Polish people and their clergy to carry on in their own valid way. The Vatican has not formally recognized them but they carry on informal ties congenialy.(This is between 2 local Bishops in Pennsylvania !) But there is a direct line of succession going back to Peter's consecration.

There are different Synods of Lutheranism.

Missouri Synod is conservative, and doesn't have that stuff.

2
Paintman05WhiteSox 2 points ago +3 / -1

Hey, I'm a happy Catholic, and I have recommended the Missouri Synod Lutheran's to some people a few times. High Mass Anglican church nearby is extremely theologically and socially conservative. I account for that for the local priest or maybe under the guidance of his Bishop. Unfortunately all of that can change on a dime.

I live semi-rural with a lot of Catholic churches to choose from. The Bishop's often exile the theologically conservative priests out my way as punishment. We welcome them with open arms.

You're way ahead of my kids. Parenthood will do that. They'll come along, too.

I was raised Catholic, and went to parochial school. That meant Mass most days. I squirmed a lot. What I did not know then is that the Church is for adults, really. The real need for comfort and guidance and the mere presence of other decent-and-imperfect people first hits when the kids come along.

God bless you, and God bless us, through you.

Language is rapidly deteriorating in Canada with out Hate Speech Laws(things you cant say) and bill c16( things you must say). Soon you will have pre determined questions with predetermined answers. We bent the knee and mankind was changed to people kind. Our national anthem took a hit from "all our sons command"( men were sent to fight and women and children did not) to all of us command. Inclusion is amazing

I'm not religious or spiritual in any way but the 'awoman' thing yesterday was just pure and utter stupidity. Trying to force things which are not gender related (amen) to BE gender related/specific, just to placate retards who see injustice everywhere?

Honestly it's like a fat child who wants a piece of candy, so you give him one. So he screams for more. And you give him more. And you never stop giving him more, instead of telling him no, that's not how you should act.

The reason I’m not a practicing Catholic today is that I was raised Catholic. I didn’t enjoy going to church every week to hear how shitty we all are. Then as I get older it turned out most of those fuckers are diddling the altar boy. Switched to a more non-denominational church and am much happier.

NOtAlLatHeiSts

I, for one, simply was taught all science and no religion as a child, so it's not surprising that I don't believe in religion as an adult. I hate that the word has shifted from meaning "lack of belief in religion" to "23yo with a craft beer and a fedora telling you you're an Iron-age idiot for praying when your grandma had cancer", so I don't often use it anymore.

But that same scientific worldview means I see the statistics and understand that the average "Muslim conservative" is far scarier than the average "Christian conservative", and that vertebrates have two sexes, and authoritarianism is counterproductive, and so is suppressing speech you don't like, and on and on.

Far leftism has become a religion of its own, and it scares me too.
