I think the scott is implying here that watergate itself was a hoax pushed by the media to get rid of a president they didn't like.

Watergate was nothing like what the DS has done to Trump. There was never even any evidence that Nixon was even connected to it. He resigned out of shame at what happened under his nose, not because he had ordered the FBI to spy on the DNC. But that was a time when America still thought that what happens in government must be under the direct orders of the president.
