In case anyone thinks sleeping pads are for wimps (I used to) - It's cold at night in DC this time of year. A sleeping pad is to insulate your body from the ground, not to provide cushion. It keeps the ground from sapping your body heat at night. The homeless use cardboard/newspapers for the same effect.
