Thanks to the cowardice/complicity of the state legislatures and the courts, any conceivable conclusion to all this is a win for China at least in the short term.
It's set up as a win-win scenario for China at this point. That was the plan all along, and it took them literally generations to get us here. The best case scenario for them though is still no violence. There's a chance we win or at least preserve some notion of freedom in part of the world, and that will always condemn them to be second best.
Absolutely the "best case" scenario is a Trump win even though it would result in months of chaos and a window of opportunity for China to grab a few of their goals (e.g., Taiwan). But that window of opportunity would close and China would be in a worse position long term.

Toughness isn't very good either. Remember those videos where they got in a brawl with Indian troops on a border dispute?
They were getting pieced up. Wimpy army with no combat experience. No resilience.
I don't want to underestimate them, fools do that, but I think in a conflict we'd definitely have the superior force.
