If this were a one-off anomaly, with a happy ending that the women no longer steal and see the light of law and order, I'd think it was great. The fact that our officers are now EXPECTED to do this sort of thing it seems makes it absolutely ridiculous. It is nice when officers provide teddy bears to kids in bad situations so they aren't afraid. That should be the extent of the warm-and-fuzzy cop, in my opinion.

He's law ENFORCEMENT - that's the job, enforcing the laws that were enacted by the representatives in the legislature that the people elected.
