Sounds mean but do they have to have the weirdos doing sign language at all events?

Can't deaf people just read closed captioning? Doesn't seem like a big deal. I know it sounds mean coming from someone with full ears and everything.

Lots of deaf people who are born w/o hearing don’t learn English fully. It’s not the same. Also closed captions for live broadcasts are way behind. Takes someone really good to type 100+ words a min. Natural spoken language is about 250+ words a min. Sign language is able to communicate at similar speed.
