So, the United States is a dangerous place to be sent for being a journalist? We sound more like China every day.

It's true. And I fault Trump for not writing a pardon to stop this insanity. A guy reveals that our government has been committing crimes against every single one of us and.....they guy who brings you the story is the one who has been relentlessly pursued and terrorized by our government.

Trump didn't start this, but he's ultimately responsible for not stopping it, as he did with the persecution of General Flynn and Roger Stone.

I'm in the minority here, but I like the guy. Yes there's boatloads of corruption. There's no way around it. Any politician who tries to be 100% law and order in that country won't live very long. AMLO is at least trying to do things for the Mexican people. Their swamp is just as violent as ours. I think of Orbrador as kind of a Ron Paul dealing with a bunch of drug lords. He knows the right thing to do and would like to. It's just not always possible.

Yes, 99% of the news about him is bad. However, when someone always gets slammed by our media, it makes me think that the person is probably ok.

23
You_Aint_Black 23 points ago +24 / -1

Americans know that 90% of USA is based and only the cities are rotten, putrid tumors of leftism. But it's the same thing in Mexico. A fiercely family-oriented and God fearing people. And then the cities are just filled with worthless unemployable progressives who want handouts and socialism.

I don't know where you or anyone who has given you points or have spoken highly of him are getting their information. AMLO is a Mexican bernie Sanders. The young voters are what put him in office on the "Change" and "for the people" platform. Then he went and ended the war on the cartels (hugs not bullets) he's been seen kissing el Chapos' moms ass. The handling of COVID has been mediocre at best The Mexican people have had virtually zero help from the GOVT. He's done zero for the country. Note. I live in Mexico city.

32
Liberal_Tear_Addict 32 points ago +32 / -0

Lol. Bolsonaro is absolutely based:

“I regret the deaths. I really do. But we're all going to die someday. There's no use fleeing reality. We have to stop being a country of fags...We have to face up to it and fight. I hate this faggot stuff.”

Because there is little of anything else that can be done. States are forced into "RED" and businesses are expected to continue paying taxes, yet, operate under the same rules as California. Mexico doesn't have PPP, Stimulus money or welfare for that matter. The country is on the verge of an economic collapse.

Biggest disappointment of his administration.

2
1134hst 2 points ago +9 / -7

Wtf was Trump supposed to do about him facing charges in other countries? He’s not being held in UK over charges for us. Trump can’t pardon someone caught up in a separate countries legal system.

13
Bonami 13 points ago +13 / -0

He was being held by the UK pending the UK court ruling on extraditing him to US. So he kinda was being held on US charges as I see it

9
deleted 9 points ago +9 / -0
6
edwardsnow 6 points ago +7 / -1

Did you not know that the USA is trying to extradite him, and put him in prison? Are you fucking deaf, dump, and blind?

-3
1134hst -3 points ago +1 / -4

He’s already in prison and not because of US charges

4
edwardsnow 4 points ago +5 / -1

He’s already in prison

because of the extradition.

4
Liberal_Tear_Addict 4 points ago +4 / -0

What charges? The Swedish charges were dropped in 2019. He is being held at HM Prison Belmarsh in London pending extradition to the U.S., after being indicted under 18 counts: Conspiracy To Obtain and Disclose National Defense Information, Conspiracy to Commit Computer Intrusions, seven counts of Obtaining National Defense Information, and nine counts of Disclosure of National Defense Information. Today the judge refused extradition and the U.S. government has 14 days to respond.

6
MsAnthropic 6 points ago +6 / -0

No, that’s not right. He’s not charged with anything in the UK, they were only holding him to extradite him to the US. All Trump had to do was get the US to drop all the charges. But then I guess he couldn’t do that for Flynn so he couldn’t do it for Assange. But I do agree, Trump’s silence on Assange is one of the very few complaints I have about him. Assange is a hero.

3
Jimmy33 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes he was/is. After doing a year for breaching UK bail, he was held in fkn terrorist prison awaiting his US extradition hearing. Locked up for nothing FFS, for revealing the Truth. He fears disappearing into a US dungeon more than anything. He probably knows more than we do.

Exactly. The veneer of. "well, we're a 1st World country where shit like what we JUST SAW happen doesn't happen." But it did happen. To us. In America. We shouldn't be looking down our nose at any other country right now, feeling superior. Same corrupt shit here, and blatant.

16
LiberalismIsTheVirus 16 points ago +16 / -0

I don't know much about him but I believe he's one of the few leaders in the world who refused to call Biden the president.

7
Bonami 7 points ago +7 / -0

That is true

15
SobekRa 15 points ago +15 / -0

He's been a lot more solid than some 'allies', just saying.

Also the US released a super high ranking former airforce General from custody a few weeks ago. He was being investigated for drug trafficking, Trump allowed him to go back to Mexico to be 'investigated' there... Not saying this is the quid pro quo necessarily, but surely he owes a favor back?

Maybe he will just take favors by the armful and backstab at the first chance he gets, like all the megacorps that enjoyed the extremely bigoted tax cuts and stock record highs only to suppress factual evidence and maths at the key moment.

Fuck knows at this point. Loyalty is an increasingly rare commodity

3

The cartels call the shots over there and they most likely just want Assange to than “kidnap” and trade him for a high ranking prisoner that’s jailed in America

Cartels have no use for Assange, for them the lower profile they operate the better. The gov could "disappear" him and blame the cartels tho.

2
DemsHaveNoHomeHere 2 points ago +3 / -1

Are you kidding me?

They can use him, the cartels built Mexico's largest cell network and its private unto themselves.

They could ransom him to the highest bidder if nothing else.

3
streakybacon 3 points ago +3 / -0

Absolutely this.

0
MexicanMacho 0 points ago +1 / -1

"Ransom him" lol, like if they didn't already earn billions of dollars from multiple organized crime sources.

An extremely publicized and high profile case is exactly what they need. 🤣🤣🤣

1
DemsHaveNoHomeHere 1 point ago +1 / -0

How would anyone ever know if they sold him to North Korea? What if they gave him to a foreign intelligence you'd never know. Their exploits rarely see the light of day.

0
MexicanMacho 0 points ago +1 / -1

That's some real conspiracy theories you have there. Why not Russia? Seems like the perfect scapegoat as always. At this point why not sell him to the Rothschilds illuminati to have him hang out with Epstein?

No man, I can vouch for Obrador, he is an honest man, would never do that. He is Mexico first, he doesn't want Mexico to keep being the pawn of the US he has said that multiple times and has acted accordingly.

Source: Mexican, supporter of Obrador since 2006

3
MsAnthropic 3 points ago +3 / -0

Mexico needs a good leader to sort their troubles out, it must be awful for the people living in some of those cities. Good luck to him.

1
MexicanMacho 1 point ago +3 / -2

Honest man? for fucks sake, the 4T is the same political class as old PRI but more brazen and without the economy going at least somewhat decent.

1
Probably_tryna_sleep 1 point ago +1 / -0

I was in mexico during the elections in 2018. I'm immediately skeptical of any mexican politician who openly says he's not worried of the cartels. At this point in Mexico, if you're in politics and you're not worried about the cartels, you're already on their payroll, or just dumb, which might be the case too... But from offering amnesty to cartel leaders, to getting el chapos son released, to that moronic idea of having a raffle for the presidential airplane, he seems a bit of a dunce. I'm not Mexican, but I feel like the people of Mexico want what most people want for their communities... Less murder, less disappearances, less crime, but I have yet to see anything to suggest his policies are helping in any way...
