A way out. Graduated high school, poor, in a small town, going nowhere fast. Joining the military got me out of there and plan to do something besides get stuck in a town now plagued with meth and heroin.

Odds of dying as an average Air Force or Navy dude are pretty slim. A lot of Army and Marine MOSs are safe and chill too.

I wouldnt join today with the state of everything and it disappoints me that other young men and women wont consider that option. I've seen the military change a lot of peoples lives. Some discipline and a sense of purpose goes a long way in taking that kid from a shitty situation and turning them into a decent adult.
