The universe is a big place. Who knows if beings not of flesh live in it too? How would primitive or even not so primitive man describe them? Kinda like demons and angels maybe?
Non corporeal beings would have to be some form of coherent energy. Brain activity aka what we perceive as reality is nothing but electrical impulses or in other words coherent energy. What if our bodies are simply organic storage vessels for our coherent energy ergo the soul? What if that is how communication is done. God speaking to you etc?

I don't think that is required. For example, something existing outside the confines of our reality that does not have "energy" or any physical aspects to it.
How does a non-physical entity act on a physical object? Perhaps there is some connective "aether" that exists in both physical and non physical form simultaneously, or can somehow transmit information across. who knows! It's rad to think about though.
