Not sure about that one, but I know a "turtle egg" is the equivalent to a "bastard" in Chinese (because the turtle buries the eggs and abandons them). It's possible I suppose it developed into that somehow. The ancients believed there were "no male turtles" and they had to be impregnated by a snake.
