we need a live DC megathread stickied at the top

Yeah, I agree. It would be nice to have. Then we could have multiple people giving input.

By the way, if other DC locals want to add info here, that would be great!!!!

Metros operational tomorrow? And are they safe?

9
pxmose [S] 9 points ago +9 / -0

ABSOLUTELY. See some of the links above.

Thanks for posting OP. I'm flying into Reagan airport today and will plan on walking primarily to get around. Never been to DC so besides the obvious events I'd love to explore if there is some downtime.

Are the parking garages in DC going to be reliable and safe for someone showing up alone? Considering using one and leaving my car there the entire stay.

8
pxmose [S] 8 points ago +8 / -0

I would think you should be fine. Just consider not putting Trump stuff all over your car, in case an ANTIFA/BLM person parks in the same garage. I will include some Parking links above shortly

By the way you can see me on Czech TV at the last rally here...about 1.30 into the video. My mom was born in Plzen by the way.

Well it took me 5-6 years (B/w here and reddit) to make an account, but here I am.

Can OP or any pedes in here shoot me a message with advise on best parking and way to get into DC from ny/nj area? Going alone and need somewhere safe to park my car in MD. Thanks in advance!

1
pxmose [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Check the list above, there are lots of good links and PM me as necessary.

1
AmericanInCommiState 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thank you. PMd. Would driving into DC be fine, or better to park in MD?

1
pxmose [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I would park and ride the Metro in. Alot of street closures.

2
Antler 2 points ago +2 / -0

This too. Union Station. https://www.unionstationdc.com/about/

2
pxmose [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thanks, added above!!!!

2
VirtueVeritas 2 points ago +2 / -0

Union station is a metro stop and Amtrak/Marc trains pass through Union Station as well for those not from the area. So you can take Amtrak and Marc as well to enter DC and then get off at Union Station to switch to the metro. Amtrak and Marc reach farther out than the metro system does

Do you think more roads will close as time goes on, or will it just be the ones already listed online? I don’t want to get stuck in a DC parking garage on the night of the sixth.

1
pxmose [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Nope. Unless of course, something big and bad happens, which IMHO is NOT the case. The last two rallies, have been overwhelmingly peaceful and trouble free. ANTIFA only really come out at night and in downtown. You should be fine.

Are any museums open near the mall?

2
pxmose [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I BELIEVE they are all closed now because of COVID unfortunately

I don't know if a map exists, but there are bike trails all over DC (this is how some of the commuters used to beat traffic back in the days when people went in to DC to work) - I know several people who would bike from Silver spring to DC using the Canal path, makes getting in easier when all the streets are blocked (also most major streets have a dedicated bike lane, like L street NW) - DC has the red rent-a-bikes but they may get snatched up quickly...

Are you fucking kidding me? I offer my help and you fucking post this? No offense but go fuck yourself. Instead of being a lazy POS, how about you go and see my comments and posts and THEN make a decision. You can feel free to fuck off. Full stop.

Instead of doubting me, go down vote the naysayers and fear mongers who are telling people not to come or scaring them away...use your GD head.

Are electric scooters still out on the streets? Bird, Lime, Spin?

4
pxmose [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yes, but in the past rallies they are snapped up pretty quickly from what I understand. But you can always go a stop or two on the Metro AWAY from the action and prolly find one there. I'm going to add an info link on that in my links now. Thanks!!!
