As someone who lives near the Iowa line, the most amusing thing is how the out-of-state political class tries to pander over the most obscure things.
Like during the Dem caucus this year, seeing all the Democrat politicos and journalists from Cali or New York or DC fawning over Casey's Pizza of all things on twitter, saying it's part of the "Iowa Experience".
Folks, this is gas station pizza. This is what we eat when we're broke or in a hurry. It's not the staple of midwestern culture that you think it is.
I’m a recent transplant from FL to IA. And Casey’s food is way better than any of the shitty 7-11 or Circle K food. However my favorite is the Kwik-Star food. Place is like half grocery store/ half gas station with some good stuff. Especially the pseudo McRib sammich mmm.
Sheetz in PA is incredible. Especially once you leave the area. People in Pennsylvania have no idea how lucky they are to have Sheetz until they leave and go other places and there’s nothing like it. Wawa is pretty darn good too but Sheetz is superior.
