But in a word yes. Which was a major reason why they persecuted the so called "Confessing Church" (In reality a coalition of churches or at least church denomination officials who refused to kiss the Fuhrer's ring). It's important to note that even before the National Socialists took over Germany was far more statist and socialist than we often think, with its own state church in the Imperial Era and draconian religious enforcement (hence Bismarck's "Kulturkampf'- Cultural Struggle- against Catholics). So the Nazis could largely subordinate them.
