Unfortunately, conservatives have been retreating for far far far far longer than that. It may be too far for some here, but people are wise to read Andrew Jackson's farewell address and his warning about "designing men" after they stole the presidency from him in a rigged election through a single swing state. That was 1837. Those designing men were then the same ones who instigated and orchestrated the Civil War and also then perverted the Constitution and our Republic with the illegitimate and rally, invalid Reconstruction Amendments and then made Senate elections direct elections to control them and then pushed for the system of popular vote determining electors that they have been using for many decades now to disenfranchise conservative and rural districts and empower urban liberal and destructive districts. In many ways, what comes in the near future, has been building up for a very very long time, most people just have no idea. It's been like a toxin, slowly building up in our national body, decade after decade sometimes more, sometimes less, until it recently reached a threshold level where the chance of cancer exponentially increased and has now metastasized and short of full chemo there is nothing that can save us.
