I see it this way, everybody who's a public figure needs to make and say things to stay relevant, be it true or false, in this case if -A BIG IF- he would be the one in charge of the count he would've been already put on notice, so it would make sense him saying things to have the spotlight on him a little more time, on the other hand if he just said that not knowing anything at all that only make him look like a fool. But with this people you just don't know if they are really fools or super fools.
