Park in VA - Springfield Mall, for example, and Metro in. I wouldn't try and park downtown.

Awesome thanks! I don't want to be stuck in traffic downtown and have no problem walking or taking a longer metro ride to not be boxed in when trying to leave.

From Springfield Mall, you can walk to Metro stop in 10 min. It's about a 30-45 min ride to the Capitol. Trains start at 0600, I think. Been a long time since I've ridden. You can park closer in, like Pentagon City Mall raised parking garage and Metro in about 20 minutes. Your vehicle would be safe in the garage and should fit as long as it isn't lifted high.
