PredictIt closed their markets in December lolol. I think I am just playing for pride at this point. had $7k on him to win $35-40k so if they don't pay up I will be very angry.

Yeah I don’t believe those were available to me at the moment. I was putting money in as early as July.

I don’t believe it’s going to pay even if trump is pres on Jan 21. AFAIK the terms and conditions prevent you from basically contesting any outcome of their decision. Sucks but whatever. I don’t get why they wouldn’t wait the 5 more weeks because if they come out behind on this one they’ll be done forever.

i've said before that VP does not have the legal authority to reject any votes. Its unprecedent.

However I am entirely on board with MAKING a precedent that establishes that authority.

I just hope Trump understands - a precedent with such ramification as this, gets set in blood, not on Twitter.

He better have more people with guns behind him, ready to back up HIS interpretation of constitution than the Democrats do.

So far when it came to people ready and willing to use force, Democrats consistently had better backing.

Trump had none.

Thomas Jefferson did it -- that's how he became POTUS.

Nixon did it when he was Ike's VP re: his election against JFK (although unlike with Jefferson, it didn't make a difference for the JFK win as it was just Hawaii).

"Unprecedented" doesn't mean what you think it means.

what thomas jefferson did was nothing like this. Their paperwork was fucky, but there was zero dispute over who Georgia's votes were inteded to be counted for.

I don't think he can betray us because he simply has no operation in law or otherwise that allows him to "reject" anything. He can hand an envelop to Congress.

The Founders never placed the power to overturn an election in the hands of the guy who directly stands to benefit from overturning the election.

Not sure what fucking Planet T_D has gone off to, but it needs to come on back to Earth now. We got a country to save.

That is simply not true. I'm not saying Pence can't or won't do it, but your assumption of authority is not written anywhere.

Founders never placed the power to overturn an election in the hands of the guy who directly stands to benefit from overturning the election.

You don’t understand the context. He can’t “overturn an election” and nobody is saying that. It’s not supposed to be a clean process every time. This stuff was written hundreds of years ago.

The idea is that the VP certifying results is the final signal of accepting a transition - a member of previous administration counting votes and accepting results. Basically it is the moment for the population to watch and see if both sides agree that everything has been above board. Everyone has to work together to make it happen - all the state level reps, the outgoing admin via VP, and the incoming admin via president elect.

It’s the moment where, if something is fucky, the majority population has the opportunity to take their 1A and 2A and act before the inauguration date. By this point in time, we the people are supposed to be satisfied with the results and procedures en masse. If we aren’t, we are expected to do - exactly what Trump has asked. Show up. Be heard. Be seen. And if required, be ready to do something.

This is all playing out exactly as it is supposed to, historically, other than the deep swamp judges and AGs. But the system as written can take care of that shortfall too, assuming people will take their 1 and 2 As seriously.
