Be damn sure you do not leave the polling location until you are sure your vote was counted. If the machines are down, stand there and wait. Do not leave.
If you are a little bit late getting back from lunch your boss will understand. Remind them you are trying to keep their taxes low too.

Do NOT give your ballot to someone else to put into the machine later. You can't do this because then there would be no documented chain of custody.
Also, I don't know what Georgia's laws are but some states have laws that there can't be reprisals against employees for taking time off to vote.
