As far as his consequences go, Kyle is being charged with intentional, reckless, and attempted homicide. Two counts of recklessly endangering safety for firing shots. Those are the five felonies.

Minor in possession of firearm. That's the misdemeanor.

Curfew violation. Civil citation. Let's put this one to bed first. How about every other person out there? Unequal application of law. But OK it's a citation.

I've heard that there is some sort of loophole on the minor in possession of a firearm in Wisconsin, but I don't even care to comment on it. Feel free to.

Now for the five felonies. If I had this mob (I'll use that word but sure, it's inflammatory) chasing after me, I would absolutely be fearing for my life. Many videos have come out these past years showing these "protestors" killing people, or at the least beating the daylights out of them. Some may argue, "Well, he should not have been there." Point stipulated, but that does not overcome the simple argument that follows. He was being chased. Groups of this nature have shown that they are out for blood. I do not even need to take the argument this far to dispel these charges, but I could easily argue that his only recourse in this instance was the use of lethal force. The guy tried to grab his firearm. Kyle was not the aggressor.

These groups gang up on people and beat the crap out of them, or kill them like the former police officer protecting that pawn shop. When the gang reaches you, you have no shot except using lethal force like a firearm. They were after him. For self preservation, he may have had no choice. And I have not confirmed, but I've seen that there was a gunshot very close by JUST prior to Kyle firing at his first pursuer. I respect the dead but use that word factually.

Kyle RETURNS to the person he shot because he is not out there out for blood. The kid was scared and I presume he called 911 right there. Being scared, he begins to flee. WHILE FLEEING, people try to attack him. Remember again, he was FLEEING prior to first firing. So, again, WHILE FLEEING, he is being attacked. There are MANY people around him. When a gang gets on top of you, you have NO chance. So he turns around and fires. One of the persons he hits also has a gun. How about that? SELF DEFENSE

No duty to retreat in Wisconsin. And he TRIED. Kyle was trying to avoid death or great bodily harm. That's the definition of self-defense in Wisconsin. If it is proven that he was illegally carrying a firearm, that does not forfeit his right to self defense.

For the reckless endangerment, he only fired at people who were attacking him. Kid had NO CHOICE but to protect himself.

Looking at the facts, this looks to be an open and shut case. I opine that he should not have been there. I also opine that most of those "protestors" are law breakers. Rioting and looting is breaking the law, for one. But even more basically, it's illegal to block the road without a permit. And they were all breaking the law by breaking curfew.
