The anti-drug brainwashing was very effective on boomers and older generations so as the zeitgeist changed, the GOP has been very slow to move away from that stance because of its oldie-heavy base. Time to get off that train though. I know many younger (and not so young) people with right-wing leanings and nearly all are pro-legalization to various degrees.
