I set locations from Boston, Miami and Denver to DC and got map directions for all three. Love this site but there are some hysterical people on here.

Saw a bunch of posts earlier about Apple maps not giving directions. Just checked with my google maps and had the same problem. I can still get driving directions to anywhere in my state and even Las Vegas.
My thought is due to the road closures the algorithm can't accurately set the path. Instead of routing people off a cliff (looking at you apple maps) it just throws its hands up.
What if you put your destination at an address just outside the area that is completely blocked off due to the prostest? Probably works then and this is all just noise

Why are you guys using Apple or Google maps? There are a number of apps which allow you to download an entire state and then uses the phones GPS. They are just as accurate. Plus many include better features. Limit your use of Mega Tech!

As for Apple Maps, directions do work if you ask directions to The White House.
