Everyone is nice, just know that you are a guest there, as it should be. Doesn't mean you can't live there, just don't expect to be treated like Japanese (why should you be) English teachers, engineers, etc. are very much welcomed at schools and companies. It's a very nice place with clean streets, good schools, and hardly any crime. They held onto a lot of conservative values that are long gone in America.
