Two of my brother's classmates that I knew were both helicopter pilots that did 1 full tour. Every mission they would drop an incendiary bomb to clear out a LZ to drop off their bird full of troops. They would go back at the designated time.
Neither one ever picked up a single person they had dropped off.
Ever. Two years of this and the tactics never changed. That's some fucked up bs.
They were never the same again after they came back. Did shit that never got reported in the papers.
That's not WWII (my Mom's Uncle was the first soldier into battle on D-Day) but it's not "nothing."
