The population is not equally divided the fact that they try to make every election razor thin is fucking ridiculous

I've wondered about that forever. Like what are the odds that 51% of voters go one way and 49% go the other, nearly every time (in major elections anyway). You could say that run-offs in a 2 party system will trend people towards those candidates, but I don't buy that level of consistency.

It's to reinforce the idea that the country is divided.

It's a neat psychological trick that works against everyone.

Red vs Blue Black vs White Pro vs Con

instead of waking up to realize that we're all just pawns in their game.

It's actually what you would expect with a two-party system. Imagine tomorrow that either societal attitudes changed or the Democrats changed their policies so that they suddenly had the firm support of 60% of the country. The Republicans, now realizing that they're now never going to win the presidency or control of Congress change their policies to appeal to more voters. The change is so successful that it gives them the support of 55% of the country. The Democrats make their own change in response to that, rinse and repeat until it stabilizes at 50%. That's essentially what's happened over the past 150 years.

Highly inaccurate. There have been many landlside victories by 15-20% margins in the last 100 years even. The last one occurred in 84. Reagan won by an 18% margin.

Obviously I'm talking about on average, the parties don't always manage to get the correct candidates or policies they need to win the election.

I'm not sure why you are getting the down votes. This has been statistically studied for years. A "first past the post" system almost always lends itself to a two way race.

"A Republican will never win again" is not true. It's true that a Republican espousing the current party's platform will have trouble winning again, but they'll just incorporate new ideas into their platform (sometimes even from the other side) to get into power again. This is the reason Trump made the Reps at least competitive again - people are looking for more nationalist policies (among other things).

I have always thought that was strange.

elections are one big psyop, and now that psyop is being revealed. Of course it is ridiculous, impossible, nonsense. They are manufacturing consent that the country is evenly split between democrats (communists) and republicans. ATM in history I would say it is more like 70/30 in favor of Republicans

You have more faith in the average American than I. While I don't doubt that Republican and Republican-leaning support is under-reported, I also don't doubt that our country is full of leftist shitheads and disengaged but, nonetheless, enfranchised voters
