The thing about MS13 that makes them stand out from other gangs is their command structure. it is operated like the military, except under threat of death instead of court martial. Once you’ve been initiated to the gang, every command given to you by your higher ups MUST be carried out or you will be killed. I was into criminal activity and gang lifestyle when i was younger. I was friends with several MS13 members. One of them confided in me that his biggest life regret was joining the gang, because he was ordered to do so much stupid and evil things for no reason at all. Not for money, or cause, but to put fear in the community/rivals and because the leadership is evil.
That being said, these two guys obviously weren’t leaders of anything, and were ordered to murder someone and indeed they couldn’t say no. They never knew why Seth, or who they were truly working for. In the end it cost them their lives. Still, they deserve it.
