I wouldn't trust another Programmer when it comes to anything outside coding. As a lot coders are liberals or oblivious to everything but Marvel, Disney, Vida games.
Most conservatives love a good "Hero" movie. Liberals love a Power Fantasy. Superheroes score on both sides of the fence.
They also say it themselves over and over and over and over again, in the movies and in the comics they just come right out and say the most attractive feature: false gods.
Yes the "heroes with flaws that actually make them terrible people" and "villains with good intentions" are guaranteed to win over any sinner. The later marvel movies have been real strong on those two points.
A hero who self sacrifices to do the right thing no matter what, or a villain who is just evil because they are evil is "boring" and "unrealistic."
It's been a very very successful campaign. So successful that people don't think those two kinds of people even exist.
I was generalizing and being sarcastic, I thought it was obvious. Of course, there are some good programmers but they get silenced by big tech. I'm mostly just venting my frustration with coworkers.

Hero movies are a subconcious cope for the loss of god and religion. These heroes are godlike now

It's fine to like super heroes but do I have to hear about Star Wars at every stand up? Some people have no personality outside consuming content.
