edit: I wasn't aware that Pence had to be impeached and can't be fired, and that a new VP would have to be affirmed by the Senate. However, could the insurrection act offer a shortcut to that process in extremis?

Well if Pence was dead I don't think he would have to impeached. Devil's advocate and all, I would rather see him live out his days in shame being spit upon by people. Or he could resign.
