They're giving it to you as a refund with your yearly taxes, you were given it early, so it's a credit. It will be trued up later. The amount you were given was based on your last filed taxes (tax year 2019). For many people their circumstances changed since then (married, more children, different income levels, etc). Some people will get a +/- adjustment to this when they file taxes for year 2020.

Thanks for the info! I never received any money from this second stimulus though, so I don’t understand the part about being given it early.
