I'm here in DC alone. Never been to a protest before. Saw Trump in Michigan the week he was exonerated. Felt like I needed to come to be counted and show my support.
I watched his speech. To be honest he should have used the platform to do better for the Normies. He also was an hour late and should have been on time to allow people to collectively walk to the Capitol for optics. Many people left when I did because it was time to leave.
I left while he was reading off the list of frauds to go to my hotel and use the bathroom and eat lunch.
Saw that things were starting to heat up at Congress so I walked that way. I got there right as it was breached (based on a text from a friend at home). You couldn't really tell unless you were next to the building. The rest of the crowd was just standing around talking. Some small groups huddled around speakers but mostly just standing. Not a lot of anger, not a lot of positivity. Just neutral.
Pretty much what you would expect from the silent majority types.
The whole thing had the type of vibe you would expect, and quite frankly what you would want. Respectful political disobedience.
I think the one thing we have to be proud of is that we directed our displeasure at the people who perpetrated the fraud. Not a single innocent (on the left) was hurt. No buildings were destroyed. No police were hurt. People just rushed the doors, broke windows of the offending party, pushed some cops back, and took back the Congress symbolically.
Then proceeded to have a little party in Congress, which is incredibly hilarious actually. Loved the pics of the guy stealing the speakers podium.
Compare to the way BLM and Antifa acted all summer. Many innocents hurts and lives destroyed.
Don't let the media start a narrative that this was a dangerous mob. Not a single person even had a weapon! Seriously think of that....they rushed congress with their bare hands by pushing.
I don't have a major thesis or any bombshells. Just your average dudes views on the day
This is exactly my take on the situation. We waited until trump had finished speaking and made it with maybe the middle of the crowd. By the time we got there tons of people were sitting on the steps which struck me as odd but they were simply protesting same as anyone else. Lots of people talking with only the sparcest few having agressive comments. We were accross the reflection pool and never noticed anything unusual. Only way we knew someone breached the building was a radio broadcast.
