i'm relatively young compared to most people here and that's exactly what President Trump has done for me. He's red pilled me and I will carry that perspective throughout the rest of my endeavors in life. If I'm successful in my career to the extent I believe possible, I'll be glad to use my influence to fight for a free society. it's disgusting to see the extent that these politicians are so clearly anti-American, simply selling their influence to the highest bidder.
socrates spoke on this dilemma 2400+ years ago and it's still true: the man who should hold a leadership position based on merit will never want to do it because he has better things to do with his time. there are three ways to persuade someone to hold office: money, honor, or risk of punishment. the ideal, honest man wouldn't consider either of the first two options. money will make him seem like a thief of public funds. honor implies covert ambition, which an honest man doesn't do. ultimately, the third option of forcing worthwhile men to hold office was his best guess at solving the problem. i would put Trump into a special fourth category of someone whose accomplished his goals in business, saw fuckery taking place in politics, and wanted to fix the system, even if only to uphold his personal morals to help the country he loves. maybe he pulls it off. maybe not. but, as you said, his ultimate impact might just be as a flare gun. the intelligent, critical thinkers alongside myself in college are the future of the world(we're already in great minority) and many of them are based due to Trump. i'll tell you first hand, the college lefties that people love to get rage boners over and fear-monger that the future is Liberal, are not a serious threat simply due to a lack of critical thought from them, in both politics and in their daily lives. they aren't able to accomplish anything of substance due to that crucial defect.
i went off topic from my original point but whatever. that's my take on how trump has influenced my worldview as a student in college who used to be MSM-brain washed.
Maybe one man can't drain the swamp.

very much this! 2015 when Trump started the campaign was the first time I bothered with politics. Now I know, can't unsee.
Yep he let the Genie out of the bottle. There is no going back now.
